My story
I’m Maneesha. My life has taken me through grief, healing, spiritual discovery, starting over and finding my way back to the heart. Each chapter has shaped how I meet people today: with care for the body, the emotions, the questions beneath the surface and the wisdom we can reconnect with within ourselves.
For more than 25 years, I’ve worked across therapy, movement, embodiment, yoga and spiritual development. This is the personal path that brought those worlds together.
THE PATH THAT SHAPED MY WORK
From sensitivity to an embodied life
My story isn’t a straight line or a promise that life will stop being difficult. It is a story of repeatedly meeting what life brings, learning to listen to my body and heart, and discovering that change can lead me closer to myself.
1980 · EARLY BEGINNINGS
A sense of love beyond what I could explain
I grew up in a warm family carrying the echoes of trauma and loss. From childhood, I sensed that death was not simply goodbye. I sometimes heard an inner voice that guided me with love, though for a long time I wondered whether my way of experiencing the world was strange. My father’s family had survived Auschwitz, while many relatives and friends had not. Questions of faith, loss and the force of love were part of my family story from the beginning.
2000 · LOSING MY FATHER
Grief opened a door to my spiritual senses
My father had an accident in the water and remained in a deep coma for three weeks. His death was one of the greatest experiences of pain and loss in my life. Afterward, I felt his presence and experienced guidance through dreams and other spiritual experiences. I began to understand that connection can continue in ways I had not known how to explain.
2006 · AN ACCIDENT AND A TURNING POINT
Finding my way back to life
A serious accident brought me close to death. I remember moving through a channel of light and hearing that it was not my time. The experience changed how I understood life and love. I spent two years working through physical, mental and emotional trauma. When the pain eased, I felt that there was more in life for me to discover, and that I wanted to help people remember their connection with love, power and consciousness.
2009 · MEDIUMSHIP
Learning to give my sensitivity a language
As I trained in mediumship alongside my studies in haptotherapy, I began to understand more about the experiences I had known since childhood. I explored clairaudience and clairsentience, and learned ways to work with spiritual impressions, healing and communication with loved ones who had died. This became a new chapter in learning to approach sensitivity with care and practice.
2011 · A HEART-OPENING EXPERIENCE
Bringing spiritual practice into the body
During an intensive training in hatha tantra and Ayurveda, I immersed myself in yoga, breathwork, meditation, mantra, satsang, ceremony, devotion and deep rest. I experienced a profound opening in my body and heart, and moments of unity and unconditional love. It deepened my understanding of embodiment, gratitude and forgiveness.
2013 · A THERAPEUTIC YOGA CENTRE
Building a place for movement and healing
After returning from travelling, I followed an inner call to open a therapeutic yoga centre in the Netherlands. I developed embodiment training, taught yoga and Pilates, and supported people in my own practice. I loved creating that space, but trying to hold every part of it alone left me exhausted. Financial strain meant I eventually had to close the centre and let go of what I had built. It was painful, and it asked me to find my way again.
2016 · QHHT AND SPIRITUAL CONNECTION
Exploring consciousness in a new way
During a stressful period after closing my centre, I encountered Dolores Cannon’s Quantum Healing Hypnosis Technique (QHHT). In my own sessions, I experienced vivid spiritual connection and deep feelings of unconditional love. These experiences expanded the way I understood consciousness and became part of my ongoing spiritual exploration.
2019 · CHANNELING
Making space for a deeper form of listening
After several years of offering hypnosis sessions, I felt called to explore channeling. I began training and gradually developed a practice of listening for and sharing guidance from Spirit. Channeling became another part of my work with people bringing their questions, search for meaning and spiritual path.
2022 · MOVING TO SPAIN
Beginning again in the mountains
I felt called to leave the Netherlands and move to southern Spain. I travelled with my partner and our animals to a mountain home overlooking the sea, imagining that we would build a retreat business together. After five months my partner returned to the Netherlands, and I continued on my own. I kept building a life and retreat practice in a new place, learning to trust my own path through uncertainty.
2023–2025 · A DEEPER INITIATION
Returning to the heart through change
These years brought heartbreak, solitude, financial uncertainty, changing homes and difficult endings. Life kept asking me to begin again and to find presence in the middle of change. My dog Kiano became one of my greatest teachers and a steady source of love. Through all of it, I kept returning to the question of how to live from the heart and meet life with more trust.
2026 · MAHARA NIVASA
A home and learning sanctuary in Andalusia
In February 2026, I moved to Mahara Nivasa in Colmenar, near Málaga. With more stability and quiet in the mountains, I began to bring my work together again: teaching weekly yoga, offering ceremonies, welcoming people for retreats and developing The School of Spiritual Development. Mahara Nivasa is both my home and a place where people can slow down, reconnect with nature and explore their own inner path.
WHY I CREATED THE SCHOOL
Spiritual development that lives in the body
Over time, I brought together what I had learned through haptotherapy, movement and posture therapy, yoga, mediumship, energy work and spiritual practice. I believe spiritual development is not only about what we perceive. It also includes how we care for ourselves, understand our experiences, honour our boundaries and live what we learn.
The School of Spiritual Development is my way of sharing that learning in a more structured educational setting, with curiosity, grounding and discernment at its heart.
